Today, I’m embarking on the second stint of the 14 Day Eating Plan. Simply put, this Hallelujah Acres Diet is raw fruits for lunch and raw vegetables for dinner. The vegetables and fruits are cleaned or peeled and eaten whole, without much preperation, with Barley max and sometimes carrot juice before each meal.

I am also including my regular Pilates workouts which I’ll be doing 4 days a week and then incorporate walking, weights on my own.

Well successfully, I started the day by making my Juice with Carrots, Cucumber and Celery.

The menu calls for:

Breakfast: 1Tsp of  Barley Max Powder mixed into 4-8oz glass of distilled water.

Barley Max

Barley Max

Mid Morning: 8oz Carrot Juice

30 Minutes before lunch 1tsp of Barley Max Powder & Water

Lunch: Apples until satisfied

Mid Afternoon: 8oz Carrot, Celery Juice

30 Minutes before Dinner 1tsp of Barley Max Powder & Water

Dinner: Hallelujah Acres Vegetable & Salad Gazpacho Soup

I made it to lunch with no problems… and remembered I have to take a spoonful of Barley Max 30 minutes before my lunch of Apples(as much as I can eat!)

And that’s what I did.. I sat down about an hour after I took the Barley Max and had two Apples for lunch. I have to say, I am feeling the mid afternoon hunger pains!!!!! I’m thinking about dinner and what is on tap for the menu. A Vegetable Salad and Raw Gazpacho Soup!

Fresh Vegetable Salad

Fresh Vegetable Salad

I love it when I can go out and still eat the foods I was able to eat before I took out dairy, meat and sugar from my diet.

Phad Thai Lunch

Phad Thai Lunch

This afternoon, I met up with a friend of mine at a Thai restaurant. I was still able to have my usual Phad Thai dish. But this time I chose the Vegetable Phad Thai with no Egg.

And the best part, it was still great. Infact, I ate the rest of the left over later in the afternoon before I left the house on some more errands.

This evening, I drank my afternoon juice which I’ve been putting Beats into to help my circulation. I love Beats!!!!

Then I went into the refrigerator and ate the little bit of left over Fresh Vegetable Salad I made the other night. A very light food day today. Something to be proud of.

Tomorrow I’m going to go to the Anytime Fitness Gym to check out there 7:45AM Pilates class. Still no Reformer Class to be found here in Palm Coast.:(

Pineapple Salsa

Pineapple Salsa

OMG!!! I can’t believe that I did this.

Mike and I went to my girlfriend Robin’s house for a house warming she was having Saturday Afternoon.  So, I got up with every intention of making some salsas with the VitaMix to take to her party!

I made the Tropical Avocado Salsa – Again. Which turned out even better the second time???

Plus, I made a Pineapple Salsa:

Ingredients:

1Can Cut Pineapples

2Tbls. Olive Oil

1/2Small Onion, Peel

1/2Orange Bell Pepper

2Tbls. Cilantro

1/2 Lime, peeled

1/2Tsp salt

1/4 Jalapeno Pepper

Directions:

Oh they tasted soooo good. I also brought along some Tortilla Chips and some Ritz Crackers for dipping. After finishing the dips and running some last minute errands, we arrived at Robin’s house around 1pm.

I met Robin’s parents, her in-laws; it was such a lovely time. And Robin had out her appetizers (my salsas) and then a lunch which consisted of grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, shrimp gumbo, and a big Strawberry Salad. I had every intentions of eating. In fact I was snacking on my dips that I had brought. But as the afternoon went on, my glass of wine kept getting filled (Not once was my glass of wine empty for more than 10 seconds) and before I knew it, it was around 7 or 8 pm in the evening.

Well, Mike had to pull me away from the festivities which had winded down to an almost screeching halt and drive home. Needless to say, I jumped right into bed and passed out when I got home.

The next morning, I woke up feeling sluggish and brandishing a headache from the night before. I didn’t do much, but watch movies and drink some Fruit Smoothies, Juice and water. I did have enough energy to get up and make my own version of a Strawberry Salad for lunch and for dinner, Mike got take out from The Outback Restaurant. I ordered a Baked Potato and had some more of my Strawberry Salad.

Barbara’s Strawberry Salad:

Ingredients:

Baby Green Lettuce

Spinach

1Cup Cut Mushrooms

3Green Onions

1Carrot

1Small Bunch Broccoli

6Strawberries Fresh Cut

Oil & Vinegar Dressing

Directions: Wash, cut up all vegetables and fruit and mix into salad bowl. Pour Oil & Vinegar on individual serving.

After a many hours in front of the computer, taking an online real estate course, I didn’t get a chance to eat. Then before I knew it I was running late for my 3pm appointment, and literally ran out the door. Luckily, Mike came with me and after the meeting I took a quick detour to Wendy’s while Mike went into Staples to get some office supplies.

I ate the Southwest Salad and asked for the Chili on the side and tried to pick off all the cheese I could. Once I went through all that effort, I realized the dressing was a creamy Southwestern Spicy Dressing. At that point I was so hungry, all I could do was mentally through my hands up in the air and eat my food.

That was around 4pm, because afterwards Mike headed to the interstate north. He had a piece of property up in Jacksonville that he wanted to see. So up north is where we headed to see some property, meet with his son, stop by Costco for the Vita-Mix Juicer and have dinner.

I had my eye on the Vita-Mix Juicer for some time, and it just so happened that Mike was thinking about getting the Juicer as well. So, luckily the gentleman at Costco was doing a demonstration of the Juicer and we were sold!!! I can’t wait to juice in it tomorrow.

Then we headed to Wasabi-Japanese Steakhouse for dinner and invited Mike’s son to join us. While we were waiting 45 minutes for our Grill side seats, I sat at the bar and ordered small Cold Sake. Then at the table, I ordered another one.

Something I thought was great! When the chef started to make the Fried Rice, I asked him to make a little with no egg in it. And he complied. I was thinking about asking him to use no butter on a handful of vegetables, but I thought I might be pushing my luck. So, I took what I got and was very happy (Inside I was jumping up and down!).

Then it was time for the hour-long ride home 😦

I’ve finally gotten a juicer away from home… and this morning I made some juice. YEAH!!!!

I got a late start, because Pilates class started at 10:00 this morning. So by the time I got the Carrots, Celery, Apples, and Beets from the local Giant Grocery Store and made the juice, it was noon.

So now, I’m not that hungry but I’m getting a craving for something in my belly. I’m still reeling over the fact that my muscles are aching a bit from Pilates. It’s a good feeling and one I enjoy having. Because it lets me know I’m working/ridding my body of the fat!!!!!

I had a scheduled Mammogram appointment this Thursday morning… and did it hurt. I do have to say though; it didn’t hurt as bad as it did last year. I asked the technician giving the Mammogram, do you think I could have lost weight in my breasts and that’s why it doesn’t hurt? And she replied, it could be! It just so happens; I did lose about 5 inches in my breasts!!!

Afterwards, I met up with my girl Robin at Panera Bread for lunch. I had my usual, Vegetable Soup and a Greek Salad with no Feta Cheese. This afternoon, I tried and Iced Green Tea and it was good. It tasted really sweet, so I’m wondering now just how much sugar was in that drink????

I came home to find Mike packing to drive up to Washington D.C. Friday EARLY morning. So it was all about packing and getting things ready. For dinner, I had some Minestrone Soup with some Naan Bread (White Flat Bread) and the bread is still weighing heavy on my tummy.!! 😦

This isn’t the best thing to do… because the longer the Juiced vegetable sits in it’s juiced state the less nutritious it is. But I don’t want to get up before 5am to Juice, so I pre juiced my vegetables tonight for the road tomorrow.

It seems as if I’m on a self-destructive path to destroy what I’ve been doing for the last 5 months. I obsess about foods I know I shouldn’t be eating, like Hershey’s Chocolate Bars, Cheese Pizzas, and Ice Cream. And every piece of food I look at, regardless of the nutritional value, I have this overwhelming desire to eat it!

I know that I have a goal to lose weight and become a healthier person, but my alter ego steps in and just wants to eat everything in sight. The worst part, I don’t know why I’m being so ravenous about food now, whereas before, I couldn’t care less!

I’ve been walking 30 to 45 minutes every morning for about a week… and doing piloxing too. Maybe I’m working my body and this urge is my body’s way of getting food. I think now I need to learn to eat better foods, and not the sugars and other BAD foods in front of me.

I did pretty well for lunch today; I ate my Green Salad I made the other day with some Whole Wheat Bread.  I had a late start to drinking my Carrot, Beet, Celery and Apple Juice and after I did so, I snacked on Organic Flax Maple Pecan Crunch.

Then for dinner, Mike and I went to Carraba’s Italian Restaurant where I had a Mediterranean Salad with Oil and Vinegar and Riggotti Martino with Tomato Red Sauce. Plus I had a glass and a half of White Wine.

Now I’m drinking my second Carrot, Celery, Beet and Apple Juice….

Bolthouse Carrot Juice

Carrot Juice

I can’t remember the last time I actually Juiced Carrots, Celery, Beets, Apples, etc.? We left for Colorado the week of November 15th… and it’s been since then. Almost a month since I’ve drank freshly juiced vegetables. I miss it!!!

But I am drinking the Bolthouse 100% Carrot Juice, when I remember.

Which is today… I’m on my second glass of the juice, which I’m not denying myself because it’s been a while. And it tops off a good day of going out to lunch and later to a movie.

We bared the cold and rain this afternoon to visit one of Mike’s sons friends family restaurant. It’s a pizza shop in the D.C. area called Angelica’s and they have some great dishes. I had a small Pizza with Wheat Bread, no Cheese, Portobello Mushrooms, Spinach, Sundried Tomatoes and a Tossed Green Salad with Olive & Vinegar dressing.

Then we went to Tyson’s Mall in Virginia to see a movie…. we picked “Old Dogs” with Robin Williams and John Travolta. Never laughed so hard. I take that back, I did laugh that hard, if not harder at “There’s Something About Mary”!

Ya know they say, laughter burns calories. Well, I needed that theory to be actuality, because I over did it. I bought a White Cherry ICEE and when you buy two they give you a free Popcorn. Plus, Mike’s son wanted Peanut M&M’s… so as you can tell, I had the ICEE, Popcorn, and some M&M’s. Needless to say, I didn’t feel so hot after the movie. My stomach was in some serious pain.

Pain which subsided, because I did have my Pizza leftovers and drinking my Carrot Juice.
Tomorrow is a busy!!! Oil change on the car, phone calls, etc!!!

Dinner @ CPK After Nutcracker

One End of Table

Nutcracker Post Production

Me w/Snow Ferry-Mike's Niece

Nutcracker Production

Cast Taking Bows

We didn’t eat much Saturaday, I did however drink a bit more than usual! So we were, needless to say, hungry.

At 10:30 Sunday Morning, we had some of Mike’s moms Vegetable Stew(Asha Reshde) in Persian. That stuff, no matter how many days later, is still unbelievably fantastic.!!! So that carried us through our performance of the Nutcracker. I’ve never seen a production of the Nutcracker, so it was great to see one of Mike’s nieces in a production of the famous holiday production.

For dinner, we all met up at the California Pizza Kitchen. I ordered, for the first time a Vegetable Pizza without the Cheese!!! And they had no problem making it for me. Plus, I had a Chinese Chicken Salad without the Chicken.

I have been slacking on the Juice though!!!! Can’t seem to remember drinking the Carrot Juice I bought at Costco… Will have to work on that!!!
