All Water Weight

You know, I’ve come to realize that all the weight I initially lost was just water weight.. Because I’ve blogged about this before, I can’t seem to leave the weight I’m at right now. There’s no moving down.!!!

So, after talking to some people it’s clear what needs to happen.

1. I need to start working out more.

2. I need to monitor my food intake amounts!!!

Yesterday(Tuesday) I was gone all day long and packed up my Juices(Carrot/Beet & Carrot/Celery) and my Barley Max.

For lunch I ate at Noah’s Deli and I had a Portobello Mushroom Salad with Spinach, Tomatoes and Balsamic Vinigarette. And an Artichoke Chick Pea salad with Olive Oil. Not a big hit with me!

And for dinner, I ate over at my friend Robin’s house and we had a nice Garden Salad with Walnuts, Carrots, Celery and a Ginger Dressing. That was great.

Good Starch for Dinner

After watching Dr. Oz talk about good starches vs. bad starches this afternoon on the television, I got a little hungry for a baked potatoe(good starch). Boy, I really enjoy watching Dr. Oz because he’s got some great insight on how to eat right and be healthy.

I baked a sweet potatoe, because my potatoes are so small I didn’t want to turn the oven on for a small potatoe. I paired the Baked Sweet Potatoe with the Green Salad I made earlier and snacked on some Whole Wheat Flat Bread and Hummus.

Now I’m watching Dancing With the Stars… and love it. A lot of great talent for the second week.
Good inspiration to work out and keep on track!!!

Starting the Workout

I did it! Last night I made the effort to work out before bed.
That’s when I generally like to do it and then in the morning, before I get the day going.

I did my stomach crunches and wieghts for may arms. I’m going to do some pilates/kickboxing moves tonight. And eventually I want to get back on track for going to the gym in the A.M. I have a gym just down the street in the community I live in, so it shouldn’t be an excuse.!!!

I’m by myself until Tuesday night… Mike went out of town to celebrate Yom Kippur in Maryland with his Rabbi. So this should be a good time to make some changes.

This morning I did get up and juice Carrots & Beets and then Carrots and Celery. For my mid-morning juice I had the Carrot and Celery. Then I drank my Barley Max and ate a chopped salad with Bell Pepper, Bok Choy, Green Onions, Broccoli, Tomotoes, Cucumber, and Almonds. For the dressing I made an oldy, but goody it’s an oil/vinigar dressing with shallots, Cumin and Salt. Yum.!

For Dinner, I want to start making more of the recipes from my “Recipes for Life” Raw Foods Cookbook.

Positive Feedback

As we were driving south on I-95 for the Airport, I asked Mike to get my container filled with Carrot and Beet Juice. I thought I’d drink my mid-morning juice on the way to drop Mike off at the Airport to celebrate the Jewish Holiday Yam Kippur in Maryland with his Rabbi.

Drinking my juice, Mike made a comment about how my body was getting smaller. He said, he noticed the weight loss especially in my legs and but. Then he asked how much weight I lost so far? I told him about 7-10lbs and he was very impressed with this and continued to ask, how many calories are you eating a day. I said, I really don’t know because I’m eating all fruits, vegetables and grains. He continued to say, your body probably isn’t going to burn anymore fat. I chimed in and said, I think you may be right, because I haven’t moved from this weight for a while. I believe I’m going to have to start working out to build muscle and burn more fat.

This conversation was very encouraging and pleasant between us, given the converstations or statements he’s made in the days prior about my Raw to Lose 40 eating plan. It was kind of like a shot in the arm to continue and prosper with!

After we said our goodbyes, I figured since I was in Orlando I’d have a Barbara day. I made my way out of the airport back to the Outlet Mall we passed. I made sure to drink my Barley Max with water before I got out, because lunch time was close by.

Overtaken with hunger pains, I decided to wrap up the shopping and go sit down at an area restaurant to order a salad. As I was driving away from the Outlet Mall, I realized there was a Whole Foods Market nearby. So my plans changed for something a little less formal. Plus I needed some supplies I ran out of and some others I was meaning to get.

I roamed around the market looking for the Salad Bar and found it of course, in the refrigerator section. As if the place wasn’t cold enough!!! I loaded up my plate with some greens, then I went over to the Specialty Bar and sampled this Cabbage, Oil & Vinigar Salad. Then on the other side I eyed a Lentle Mix and a Basmatti with Sun Dried Tomatoe Mix. I made sure to pick foods that were as raw a possible. An easy task, because all the ingredients were posted on the glass partition above the food.

This was a great idea, because it’s both convenient and a smart food alnernative for me. I only wish there was a Whole Foods Market closer to home. Even though it’s a whole foods market, there is meat, fish and dairy products sold on sight. So you really have to stay on track and pick and choose wisely.

I’m really enjoying this new way of eating on my Raw to Lose 40 plan. And the encouragement I got earlier today, really made my day!

On the Road Blues

As we were driving up north to Jacksonville, I drank my mid-morning Carrot Juice. While I was drinking the juice, Mike started telling me, “you know drinking to much juice causes problems.” I just nodded my head and thought right! That’s really a problem. It just seems, ever since I’ve been on this “Raw to Lose 40”, he’s had some extra negative comments to say about what I’m doing and the weight that I’m losing.

Which leads to my Barley Max. I needed a bottled water and I told Mike before we made it to Jacksonville and then again before we got to the Town Center Mall. And he was just acting as if it was such an inconvenience to stop and get a bottled water so I can mix the Barley Max with. Once I got the bottle water, after I told him to stop at the nearest gas station to get gas, he asked why do you take that and what does it do?? It wasn’t like he had genuine interest, it sounded as if he was just disgusted that I drink that green powder mix.

It just gets to be a little frustrating, that the person who you think wants the best for you, doesn’t even show any support for what you’re doing. At least that’s how I feel when he talks like that and has that attitude.

So eventually we made it to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch… I enjoyed my Chicken Cashew Salad without the Chicken and some Hummus and Salsa. It was great! Unfortunately though, Mikes meal wasn’t so good. He ordered the Crab Cakes thinking they were made with Lump Crab Meat. They weren’t, so he sent them back after speaking with the manager. Through it all, I ate my salad and was happy. On the way home I drank my mid-afternoon Celery, Carrot, Cabbage, and Spinach Juice. It wasn’t so good!!! But I put it down and had my Barley Max, but I don’t really feel hungry. I might just snack on Flaxseed and Almonds and Nectarines we got at Costco.

Dinner Out

We took a trip down to the area neighborhood gathering place called “European Village” and we walked around to see how business is going.

One of the places still there though, is our favorite pizza place, and we stopped in for dinner. I know pizza, that’s not good raw food. Yes, but I didn’t have a pizza. I had a nice tossed salad with Romain lettuce and Oil and Vinigar dressing and I drank Water. Before we left for the “European Village” I took my Barley Max and it feels so good be on track.

But when we came home from dinner… it seems the salad wasn’t as filling as I had anticipated. Because I ate two Banasas, a Nectarine, and some Almonds and Dates. That was a lot of dessert if you want to call it that.

This morning, it turns out, I’m not so hungry. But I’ve already juiced Carrot Juice a Carrot, Celery, Cabbage, Spinach Juice and we are out the door. So it’s time to pack up my little pink bag with my Juices, Barley Max and some more fruits.

Lunch will be out on the road.. and dinner?? It’s nice getting back into my routine again and not being chained to the kitchen because of the strict foods I needed to eat. It feels really good!

One day after getting all this information from the Raw Foods Seminar, what did I do?
I went ahead and had 3 glasses of wine at dinner last night. It wasn’t all in vein though, I did have a Mediteranian Salad with no cheese and dressing on the side and I piece of Brucsetta.

We invited my friend Robin and her husband to dinner last night. It was a great idea, but I miss managed my time because not only did I miss my mid-afternoon Juice, I also didn’t take my Barley Max before dinner. On top of all this, I had the 3 glasses of wine. Plus, I didn’t work out yesterday either.

But today is another day… and so far so good. I pre-juiced this morning before we hit the Framers Market. Then came home after running some errands and I made Veggie Soup Stock for future use. While the soup stock was simmering I made a Zucchini Chowder from left overs from my Taco dinner a couple of nights. This evening, I’m not sure what will be on the menu. But I am drinking a lot of water to get the remaining affects from last night out of my system and getting ready to drink my mid-afternoon Juice of plain old Carrot Juice.

Left Overs Again

It seems that when I make something really good…. I just want to keep eating it!
That was the Salsa and Guacamole I made, which was initially part of the Tacos I made the other day. I had quite a bit of left overs and was going to make something with the Squash and Zucchini, but I didn’t.

Instead, I got a call from my girlfriend in Buffalo, who attended the Raw Foods Seminar and let me ask the person giving the seminar some questions. Before the Seminar took place, I was worried about the 14 day eating and how and what you eat after. I got that question answered, now I’m eating regular lunch and dinner Raw Meals. But I also had the quesiton what about Organic Wine… he said no. No matter what kind of alcohol it is, it’s not good. : -(

On The Scale

I got on the scale this morning, just to see what’s going on…. and I lost another pound. I’m down to 176lbs. Yeah!!!! This is going good! I feel good, and it’s not so hard to accomplish.

After making my mid-morning and mid-afternoon drinks, Carrot, Beets and I added with the Carrots, Celery for the mid afternoon Juice, I noticed my Barley Max is running low. So I jumped on the internet to the Halleluha Acres website, where I’ve been purchasing the Barley Max, and noticed a Carrot and Beet Max powder for travel. I thought I would buy that because, we will be traveling in the coming weeks, so that should come in handy. I won’t have to worry so much about the juicing process now.

Dinner is still a mystery tonight! The Tacos, Salsa, Guacamole went over real well, I might just do something to get rid of some of the Squash & Zucchini I cut up and wasn’t able to use?!!?!?.

Day With the Girls

Started the day early… because I was meeting my girlfriend Robin to go down to Orlando and checkout IKEA. It was great..! I juiced Carrot, Cabbage, Spinach and a plain Carrot juice for my mid-morning and mid-afternoon drinks.

Then for lunch, I ordered the Grilled Chicken Tuscano Salad with out the Chicken, Cheese and Bacon with the Dressing on the side. Then we indulged a little on a couple glasses of wine.

That I think, was a bad thing. Because last night for dinner we did Carrabba’s and I had two glasses of wine.

At home, I made Tacos with homemade Guacamole and Salsa with Diced Tomatoes, Squash, Zucchini, Bell Pepper, and Onions. I also made a green salad with Bok Choy, Cherry Tomatoes. The Tacos were actually great… I was supposed to eat the Tacos on Cabbage Leaves, but I bought some Whole Grain Tortillas. Cabbage over Whole Grain Tortillas?????
