In the last week… we’ve been on the move going up to Jacksonville (Friday) to check out the new Bahama Breeze Restaurant. But instead we walked across the street to Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse for a much shorter wait of 5 minutes vs 2 hours they quoted at Bahama Breeze.

We had our usual Hibachi Shrimp, Steak and Vegetables. Of course I had the rice made with no eggs, and only ate the vegetables. Before hand I ordered a Seaweed Salad and no Sake. Can you believe it.!!! Usually I have two little decanters of the Rice Wine.

Saturday we headed west to Sarasota with a stop at Bahama Breeze in Orlando.

It had been a while since we went to the Columbia Restaurant in Sarasota… it’s a favorite there on St. Armand Key.

We had there Columbia’s Original “1905” SaladTM -NO CHEESE & NO HAM. “The Columbia’s legendary salad tossed at your table. Crisp iceberg lettuce with julienne of baked ham, natural Swiss cheese, tomato, olives, grated Romano cheese and our famous garlic dressing (our 100 year old family recipe of fresh garlic, oregano, wine vinegar and Spanish extra virgin olive oil).”

Then Mike ordered a Vegetarian Dish with Steamed Veggies and Plantains.. He Shared with me.!!!

To start the week… I had lunch with a girlfriend of mine and ordered a delicious Green Salad with Scallops and we drank 3 glasses of White Wine… Needless to say I was feeling real good for our evening comedy show date with another group of friends.

Wendy's Cod Sandwich

Wendy's Cod Sandwich

We didn’t eat dinner because the show started so early (7:30pm) so Mike and I pulled into Wendy’s and ordered two Fish Fillet Sandwiches… the fish was Cod and oh so good.

As you can tell I had a lot of fish in one day… because I’ve made the decision to  incorporate fish into the diet. I actually miss eating fish and will eat occasionally!!

For meals… Mike and I made:

Then Thursday we headed north to Potomac, Maryland and for the road I juiced my Carrots, Celery, and Apple juice and brought along my Almond Trail Mix. But we did stop off at Wendy’s for lunch, where I had a Side Salad with a Vinaigrette Dressing and a Cod Fish Sandwich. YUM!!

Dinner ended with a Vegetable Pizza (White Dough.. UHG!!!) . Friday afternoon I was in the house with Mike’s son and so I made him a pasta dish with Prego Sauc. The whole pasta thing sounded good, so then I made myself  a Whole Wheat Pasta and Broccoli Dish.

Mike decided to make another meal form his mother’s book of recipes…. this one was even better than the last time he made this same dish three weeks ago. In Persian (farce) it’s called Asha Reshteh… which is basically a vegetarian dish. And Tuesday afternoon we sat down with his daughter and enjoyed the dish with some Whole Grain Wheat Bread. The reason I think this last preparation of the Asha Reshteh is so much better, because it was soupier. Otherwise with the noodles, vegetables and beans get so overwhelming the dish really needs more soupiness.

Chick Peas

Lentils

Spinach

Kale

Onions

Carrots

Celery

Whole Wheat Noodles

Directions:

Wash and Chop up vegetables and put into pot with drained beans and lentils. Add 8 cups of water and put on heat for 1 or so. Boil noodles and add them at the end of the process.

For dinner, Mike and I were out and took a ride down to Daytona. I wanted to check out a movie (Bounty Hunter) and we were an hour too early for the next showing. So Mike decided to go across the street to Chili’s Restaurant where we had Happy Hour cocktails and some munchies.

Carafe of White Wine

I had of course the white wine 2 for 1 and a small Asian Salad with no cheese or creamy vinaigrette dressing. I asked for Oil and Vinegar instead and Mike had the Chicken Nachos. While we waited for our food, we snacked on some chips and salsa.

Then when we got back home…. I felt so overwhelmingly hungry and had a small dish of the Asha Reshteh with a piece of Whole Grain Wheat Bread. Maybe not such a good idea because I felt so heavy in my stomach… it was uncomfortable.

Banana Split

Mike and I got an early start Friday… so we stopped at  a local breakfast place so Mike could have a breakfast. I ordered a Strawberry Smoothie and had a Croisant. And Mike ordered this OH SO SWEET Apple Straudel Crepe. I had 3-4 bites of it myself and was just glad I walked hours before.

Amazingly enough… I forgot to eat lunch and so did Mike. So after I scheduled my last meeting for the day, Mike and I headed up to St. Augustine around 4:30pm for dinner. We decided on Carrabba’s Restaurant for an early dinner and drinks.

Mediterranean Salad

I had the Mediterranean Salad with no Cheese and Oil and Vinegar Dressing and then I ordered the Penne Franco with no Cheese.

This is a great dish of White Pasta, Roasted Mushrooms, Tomatoes, and some other seasonings. I was feeling generous and shared my pasta with Mike. While we were at the restaurant, it was happy hour, so I indulged in two Carafes’ of White Wine.

White Wine Caraffe

The meal was sooo good, I was hungry for more.  But I have to remind myself not to go all day without eating food. My juices can only do so much, and going without a meal makes me hungrier.

And being so hungry, I wanted more food some Ice Cream.

A banana split to be exact.! We drove by an Ice Cream shop and Mike and I both agreed to go home where he was going to make me a banana split.

It sure did taste good going down, but later it was like bombs and grenades going off in my stomach. And it went through the night and into the next morning. ICE CREAM IS NOT MY FRIEND AND I NEED TO REALIZE IT AND STOP EATING IT.  In addition to the Ice Cream I’m eating, I’ve noticed I’ve taken to eating more white bread! Things need to change if I’m going to succeed in meeting my goals.

I begged Mike for a warm weather weekend excursion… and I got a trip to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, only to find out it wasn’t as warm as I thought it would be.

We had enough of the cold and snow from up north and when we drove back down to Florida, it was still cold. So I thought, a trip south would warm us up. But temps in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale were only 10 degrees warmer putting them in the 60’s 😦

Regardless, we hit the road Saturday morning and I packed the left over Hibachi Vegetables for lunch which I ate as soon as I got in the car. I did manage to juice two Carrot, Celery, Spinach, Apple drinks with the new VitaMix Juicer, and I made a Fruit Smoothie too!

Dinner was the usual Pier 66 culinary excursion. The food, atmosphere, and service are so amazing, it’s always a treat to go there. Each time I go there, I get the same Green Salad with out any Feta Cheese and this weekend Oil and Vinegar instead of their creamy dressing.  To spice things up I added a Baked Potato too in addition to a couple of Glasses of White Wine.

Sunday we got up to head down to Miami and found out the Food Networks Wine & Food Festival was taking place on the beach in South Beach. We decided to have lunch on Lincoln Street at a Rustic Pizza Restaurant we visited in November with my cousins when they came in town for the cruise. Mike and I split a 16″ medium pizza.

Rustic Pizza Vegetable Pizza

My half was the Vegetable side with no Cheese on a Wheat crust and Mike’s side was the Mushroom Pizza with Cheese.

Then we continued walking toward the Ocean, where we scoped out the Wine & Food Festival. It turns out, in order to get on the beach to walk around and sample wines, foods, etc. we had to pay $230 per person. A price a little to steep for a couple of hours of testing.! So we went across the street and sat at The Carlyle and had Daquiries and an appetizer dish of Chips and Calamari.

Sunday Morning was a tough ride home….. tooo many Daquiries last night and a bad diet all around. We stopped at Einstein Bros. Bagels for a Whole Grain Bagel with Butter and the middle scooped out and to drink I got a Frozen Mocha Latte.  As we were driving north, I begged Mike to stop in Palm Beach, to see how the other half lives.

We drove up along Ocean Ave (A1A) and saw the mansions facing the ocean and then we stopped at the Breakers Hotel. It’s where some of the “Heartbreakers” movie was filmed. And the hotel is also supposed to be a famous, historic resort as well.

Further north we stopped outside of Titusville for lunch, which turned out to be Long John Silver’s Fish and Fries Combo with a couple of Hush Puppies. I’m still having feedback from all that grease I ate earlier.
