I juiced and filled my two mugs for the road… and I also packed a quick leftover meal from Moby Dicks’ to eat while we drive to Philadelphia.  I’m glad I did, because my Veggie Wrap was the most I ate… next to all the Bombay Sapphire and Tonics I inhaled.

I actually had 3 cocktails throughout the pre-wedding night. And I felt I should indulge, because I looked good in my new dress.

I especially looked good walking through the Buffet Line and taking little to nothing. I kept real close to my raw eating plan. There were some fried foods on the line and cheeses, but I didn’t indulge. I ate the fresh Veggies on the line, I had some Tortilla Chips, and some stuffed crab stuffed mushrooms.

In addition to the alcohol I drank during the night, at the hotel, I ate two cupcakes. I didn’t eat enough good food, so I got really hungry and indulged.:(

Sunday, we got up to attend the mid morning wedding and brunch that followed. This was the day I got a whole bunch of good raw foods inside of me. After the lovely wedding we snacked on a buffet of fresh carrots, celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli and salsas. I had a plate full of some of the different salsas with crackers and the veggies. I thought that was going to be the brunch, but the staff had us eating that while they prepared the brunch buffet.

It was a typical breakfast brunch with grapes, and pineapples. I made myself a bagel and locks with butter, onions, capers and tomatoes. It was delicious!!!! And of course I had a piece of wedding cake, which was, Carrot Cake.

For dinner that night, I made some crab cakes with carrots, celery and seasonings for Mike and his sun. And for me I roasted some Asparagus in Olive Oil with chopped Onions, Cumin, and Paprika. I scooped out a little Hummus and dipped it with some Whole Wheat Bread. Then I ate the remaining pieces of Carrot Cake Wedding Cake I snuck out of Philadelphia.

Last night I made a Colorful Marinated Salad and a Butternut Squash that was great. I didn’t boil the Butternut Squash enough, so I think it was a little harder than expected.

Colorful Marinated Salad

Colorful Marinated Salad

Colorful Marinated Salad:

Ingredients:

1 Orange Bell Pepper

1 Small Red Onion

1 Avocado

1 Small Bunch Broccoli

2 Carrots

1/2 Lemon Juice

Directions:

Chop up all the vegetables and mix with Vinegar & Oil Dressing. Cut one lemon in half and squeeze into vegetable mix.

Butternut Squash

Butternut Squash

Butternut Squash:

Ingredients:

1 Butternut Squash

1Cup Bread Crumbs

Directions:

Peel and de-seed squash. Chop into smaller pieces and boil in water until tender. Mash the butternut squash and layer into pan with bread crumbs, making sure to top with the bread crumbs. Put in the oven at 350 degrees and bake for 15 minutes.

I ran over to the Farmers Market this morning to get all the veggies and I need to keep me through the week. I also got a bunch of Beets to add to my Juicing.

Since Thursday, I’ve been walking in the mornings which is great, but I feel hungry more throughout the day. And today after my lunch of left over Colorful Marinated Salad and TWO pieces of Cheese and Onion Pizza (ugh!!!) I ate a Special K Protein Bar Double Chocolate. It says the calories from it are only 180, but all the non-natural things in the bar are what worry me.:(

Special K Protein Bar

Special K Protein Bar

Coating(sugar, partially hydrogenated palm kernel oil, cocoa precessed with alkali, whey, nonfat milk, soy lecithin, sorbitan monostearate, salt, polysorbate 60, artificial flavors), soy protein isolate….etc. These are just the first couple of ingredients. The bar sounds boxed and chemically processed, not natural at all!. Not to mention made with animal products.

I was going to have a Yogurt; because it turns out I’m not eating enough beans to get my protein and alkaline balance. Unfortunately, Mike threw out the containers because he thought they were expired. I asked him, next time look at the expiration date before you throw it away.

So I drank my second Carrot Juice…., which I love, because it tastes like I’m drinking something with sugar. It kinda kills the mid afternoon sugar urge. For dinner, I ate the remaining Colorful Marinated Salad and I’ve been snacking on the Roasted Pepper Triscuts. But I think I’m done with them, so I’m just drinking water. I hope I’m able to keep out of the Chocolate, because last night I ate two pieces of Dark Chocolate.

Tonight we’re watching the “Hope For Haiti Now” fundraiser…. it’s really spectacular. But still waiting to get through to make my donation.!!!

Freezing cold and windy, that’s my forecast for the day. I woke up with just about every inch of my body aching from my Pilates workout. I didn’t mind, infact, it took my mind off my back pain and made me feel like I’m putting a dent into this body of mine.!

Got out of bed fairly late, later than usually and so we got ready for the day and hung out in the living room. Mike had already made two different types of soups and I ate the Vegetable Rice Soup he made with all the left over Veggies and Rice in the refrigerator. I sprinkled in some Whole Wheat Bread and chowed down. It was very delicious… makes me very jealous that Mike’s able to make food at a drop of a hat like this.:(

Vegetable Rice Soup:

5 Celery

4 Yellow Onions

3 Potatoes

3 Parsnips

2 Cans Diced Tomatoes

1/2 Bag Spinach

1Cup Rice

1Can Kidney Beans Canned (drained)

Vegetable Rice Soup

Sunday Vegetable Rice Soup

Directions:

Put water chopped up vegetables, spinach, beans, diced tomatoes, and rice all into pot and place in crock pot for 1 hour.

Even thought it was 24 degrees and windy outside, Mike decided to take us ice-skating. I said, lets go! So we took a drive to Reston Town Center and parked near the skating rink set up in the open area of the mall. We went into the information area where they were selling tickets and skates, and sure enough, I took my boots off and told the girl size 9. I was sad Mike didn’t buy a ticket, but that’s to be expected. He’s not much of a sportsy guy. But that’s O.K. his son and I took to the ice until I got my ice skating legs… and by that time, we were icicles from the blasting wind and very chilly temperatures. So, we got off the rink and headed over to Panera Bread for a nice Hot Chocolate.

Vegetable Salad

Vegetable Salad

Finally here… I decided in the afternoon to go get a mani/pedi and my hair washed and styled, while Mike went to a business meeting. I ended up having Mike pick me up from Macy’s because I wanted to pick up a little half jacket to wear with my dress.  Hair styled and final touches made to my outfit, I was ready to leave. Well, it was still raining outside and I asked Mike to pick me up from Macy’s instead of where I was dropped off. And the only place he could find to pick me up required me to walk in the rain to get to the car. Men they don’t get it.

Not eating anything all day, at around 4:30pm I made this great Vegetable Salad with an amazingly fresh Oil & Vinegarette  Dressing. I had to chop up the remaining veggies in the bowl, because they started going bad.

Vegetable Salad:

1 Red Bell Pepper

1Orange Bell Pepper

1 Small Head of Broccoli

1 Tomato

1 Avocado

1/4 Can of Chick Peas

Oil & Vinegarette Dressing:

Olive Oil

Balsamic Vinegarette

Paprika

Dried Onions

Sea Salt

Both Mike and I were eating the salad (he was by the way was on his 3rd glass of wine)and I asked what are we doing tonight.?  Well that led to continued arguing about the festivities of the night. And I was getting pissed because all of our options were selling out fast and I really had my heart set on The Kennedy Center. There was a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra and then the Ball Drop Party to follow.

But his indecision didn’t stop me from getting ready, afterall, I bought not one but two dresses, got my mani/pedi, had my hair styled and I didn’t want it to be all for nothing! Given he was drinking already, I had to wake him up off the sofa and make him get ready.

New Year's Eve 09

Dressed for New Year's Eve 09

We both put our indifferences aside and got ready… Here’s picture of me in my dress for the evening. After we took pictures, we headed out the door! Mike was on the way to the Ritz-Carlton (where dinner and ball drop were sold out) I said, I want to go to the Kennedy Center!

It was quarter til 8pm and the N.S.O. started performing at 8:30pm… we were cutting it close. It didn’t help that Mike got lost and took a couple of wrong turns(blowing my top at this point)! We made it to the Kennedy Center, I got out and ran to the box office to buy two tickets to the sold out performance. After 5 minutes of waiting, they rangled up two $90 dollar tickets  and I called Mike to park the car. We were 15 minutes late by the time we finally sat down in our seats to a performance we both ended up enjoying.!!!

Both so hungary, we went upstairs to the Terrace Restaurant and realized it’s 11pm and the New Year’s Eve Menu was a 4 course meal. After we sat down at the table with my Frangellico on the rocks in hand I ordered at the bar, we decided we were never gonna make it back downstairs in time for the clock to strike midnight.  So, we opted for the cocktail lounge for something quick. Mike ordered the Seafood Martini, I ordered a Salad and the Vegetable Ratatoullie (which was great!) and had 10 minutes to spare before the clock hit 12. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
