Repotting Plants

What's for Dinner Loaf

Better Than Tuna

I spent the morning re-potting some plants in the front yard. We’ve got some great tropical type plants that do really well in Florida heat and sun. It seemed through the course of the year, new plants and existing plants seemed to be piling up and creating a clutter in front of the house, so I had to do some manicuring of the grounds.

This is a good thing, because Mikes been working on cleaning out the garage to make space for the two benz’s. And now, I’ll have a little garden center in the garage too!!! Fingers crossed.

I ran a little longer than anticipated and  I’m now just getting to my juice I juiced 10 minutes ago. By now, I’d be drinking my second Spoonful of Barley Max mixed with water and thinking about lunch. But instead I have a Carrot, Celery, Apple Juice drink that I’m filling up on. Hopefully this will take away my hunger pains.

Since Friday, I’ve been feasting on the two meals I made.  One dish I’ve already made Better Than Tuna,  and it’s a raw dish that actually tastes like tune because of the Kelp, Parsley and Dill from Rhonda’ No-Oil Dressing. I’ll put up the recipe for both. But the second creation, also raw  is a What’s For Dinner Loaf, which really isn’t a loaf. It just looks like a loaf with all the Pumkin Seeds and Nuts in it.

Saturaday, we ate out for lunch up in Jacksonville at the P.F. Chang restaurant. Where, I was pleasantly surprise to see a steamed Veggie Bowl on the menu. So I ate that, and left behind much of the brown rice and the tofu in the dish. But gladly ate the Snap Peas, Broccoli, and Carrots.  We came back home from grocery shopping at Costco in Jacksonville and I broke into the Whole Wheat Bread Loaf which was made that morning by the Costco Bakery. I broke off a piece and set it on my plate next to the Better Than Tuna dish and proceeded to take a second helping of each. Boy was that ever good. !!!! But to things I have to get off my chest about yesterday(Saturday). I got myself a Berry Smoothie from Costco, which I shared with Mike on the drive home and then again at night, I had some Raspberry Sherbert with Whip Cream. Two bad things right after another. I feel disgusted with myself for doing, but it was so good and I got on the scale and I still managed to stay or go up to 174lbs. Enough of that!!!

Orange Hands

I really noticed this the other day, when I was driving down to my doctors appointments. My hands had an orange tint to them. I thought to myself that’s odd. I hadn’t really noticed them like this before. So I brushed it off, until it happened again a couple of days later. I thought, well I had just finished peeling the carrots, celery, beets and apples to make my juice drinks for the day. Maybe it was that. But then today, my hands don’t have the orange tint to them?????

Then I remembered reading when I started the Raw Eating Plan… that carrots have I think the Beta Carrotene(?) in them that tints the skin. It’s not serious or dangerous for that matter. But I always thought yeah sure! because my skin wasn’t turning orange…. until now!

I thought that bared mention.. just because it’s now happening.!

Well, I finally finished the Garden Salad I made earlier this week. I ate it for dinner along with another batch of the Almond Butter. Boy that stuff is really good. I made this second batch a bit more spicey, maybe my metabolism will speed up! 🙂

Concentrated on my arms last night… and this morning I can feel the difference. They’re a little bit more stiff. But I’ve got to get the Michelle Obama arms!!!!!

Lunch With Robin

This afternoon, my partner in crime came over. We chilled and caught up on things since the last time we got together(last week). I told Robin about all my doctors appointments I had last week and this week. They were all annual visits with the doctors to see how I was doing with my health and weight loss. Last year, I checked in with the Doctors because I had chest pains, joint pains and overall I knew I was not healthy. It turned out I have asthma, and I was about 50lbs overweight.

Since then, as you know I’ve lost 10lbs from eating Raw Foods since September but technically,  my weightloss started in May. And since then,  I’ve lost about 25lbs overall. I told Robin how excited my doctors were and they were congratulating me on the weightloss and how well my testing was. I still have some blood work (for cholesteral) to be checked and compare it to last years numbers. I feel confident that the numbers will have moved from the dangerously high to normal range.

While we were chatting about that, we were making some food to munch on. And I have to admit, I didn’t go all out like I usually do with the preperations. Infact I reheated last nights meal and Robin put together a nice little Almond Butter Cream for some Cucumbers I chopped up. It was delicious!!!

Lunch was last nights Eggplant & Rice Casserole:

31/2Cups Eggplant

1 Bell Pepper

2 Gralic Cloves

3 to 4 Medium Tomatoes

1 Medium Onion

2Tbsp. Salsa – 1Cup Tomato, 1/2Cup Red Bell Pepper. 1/2Cup Corn, 1/2Celery, 2Tbsp. Onion, 1/2Cup Green Bell Pepper, 1/2Cup Cucumber, 1tsp. basil, oregano, cilantro, Celtic Salt, 1Clove Garlic, 2tbsp. Virgin Olive Oil, 2Tbsp. Honey. Chop and mince veggies, place half into blender until smooth and combine with remaining veggies and add seasoning.

1Tsp. Celtic Salt

1Tsp. All Purpose Seasoning(I left this out)

Chop up eggplant, dice onion, pepper and tomatoes, and mince garlic. Steam eggplant for 5 minutes. Add pepper and onion and minced garlic and steam an additional 2 minutes. Mix in tomatoes and salsa, simmer until juicy for about 5 minutes. Add seasonings and mix well. Serve over Basmati Rice.

Almond Butter Cream:

2Tbsp. Almond Butter

4Tbsp. Soy Sauce

1Tsp. Chopped Pepper

2Cucumbers chopped

Mix the Almond Butter and seasonings and spread onto Cucumber.

M.I.A.

Well it’ s been almost a week since I’ve logged in and blogged about my Raw To Lose 40 Eating Plan. In part I’ve had some computer problems, was stuck eating left overs, and also I’ve fallen off the wagon a little.

In addition to making an overload of food, I’ve been catching  myself eating some foods that are not in my diet plan. I’ve had cheese pizza (again) and then the other night I ate some whipped cream. No No’s in the Raw To Lose 40 Eating Plan.

The other night, Mikes daughter came over and ending up eating dinner at the house. So I made a great Green Salad with Bell Peppers, Green Onions, Tomotoes, Almonds, Cucumbers, Celery. In addition to that, Mike and I collaborated on a Whole Wheat Pizza. Mike made the Whole Wheat Dough and I added the canned Pizza Sauce, Cheese(on Half), Bell Peppers, Tomatoes, Sun Dried Tomatoes.

It was such a great tasting pizza, that I ended up eating the half I wasn’t supposed to. The Cheese Side!!! 😦

But I’m slowly getting back on track, working out and continuing to Juice my Veggies.

All out for Dinner

After visiting my girlfriend Robin today, I came home ready to make something great for dinner.

I looked around and saw what veggies were going bad and what I hadn’t eaten lately and decided on three seperate meals.

I decided to make a Green Salad:

Baby Greens

1 Avocado

1 Celery

1/2Tomato

1/2 Cucumber

Then I also made three cooked dishes, which is not really a good idea in this eating plan. Because it stresses eating only 20%  heated foods, the rest raw foods in your daily diet.

But I started with the Sweet Potato Delight:

4Sweet Potaoes, peeled and cubed

1Large Green Apple, peeled and cubed

1/4Cup Raw Cranberries

2Tbsp. Honey

1/2Cup of Raisins

1/2Cup Fresh Orange Juice

Preheat Oven to 350degrees and place everything in a large baking dish, cover and bake an hour or until Sweet Potato is tender.

Then I found the Vegetarian Chili recipe:IMG_4713

3/4Cup Bell Pepper

1/2Cup Carrot

2Cups Organic Black Beans

2Cups Organic Kidney Beans

1Cup Onions

1/2Cup Celery

1Tsp. Basil, Cumin, Celtic Salt

1/2Tsp. Garlic Powder, Paprika, Oregano

1Tbsp. Onion Flakes

3/4Cup TVP

2Quarts Tomato Sauce

Sort, rinse and soak beans overnight. Drain and add enough water to cover and cook until tender. Chop veggies and saute in small amount of water until almost tender. Combine everything and cook for about an hour on low heat, allowing the flavors to mingle.

Finally, I had a taste for Couscous, so I found this recipe for Couscous & Raw Veggies:

The Veggies:

1Cup Carrots

Vegaterian Chili

Couscous & Vegetables

1Cup Broccoli Florets

1/2Cup Re Pepper

1Cup Green Onion

Cut Carrots and Red Peppers into match-stick size, cut Broccoli into florets and chop Green Onions.

The Couscous:

4Cups Distilled Water

1/2Tsp. Nutmeg

11/2tsp. Cumin

Celtic Salt

2Cups Couscous

1/4tsp. Cinnamon, Tumeric

Bring water to boil and add couscous and boil for one minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, add fresh veggies,  seasonings and allow to sit for 10 to 15 minutes.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?
IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS!  – FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.  If you eat fruit on an empty stomach, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD – Let’s say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit..  The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.
In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid..  The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil. Then the fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

New Measurments

I spent the morning at my friend Robins house, becuase she needed a babysitter for a couple of hours. And afterward, she pampered me with a facial and make-up application. So we spent the rest of the morning  gabbing and catching up from our last meeting. We were sitting in the kitche before she gave me a make-over,  and we ate some Apples and Triscuts for lunch.

After she did my fabulous makeup… she asked if I knew how many inches I’ve lost??? And I had been meaning to measure myself, but just always forgot. So I asked her, do you have a tape measure or something we can measure my bust, waist and hips with??

Well it turns out, I’m not even close to the size I think I’ve slimmed down to. My measurements came out to be: Bust 42′, Waist 36′ and Hips 42′. I thought I was in the 30’s for everything.! I wonder what the numbers were when I was 10 plus pounds heavier?!?!??!?

Anyway, as I mentioned earlier we had Apples for lunch.. and that really does the trick. I got some literature(from my friend Robin) about fruit. And one of things it said to do, eat fruit on an empty stomach before any other food. This way all the nutrients can go to where they’re needed and it will also help you go the bathroom. That’s where I’m going now!
