Book Smart

I decided to take another look at the book that started everything… and educate myself a little more since I’ve ended the 14 day Menu Plan. In “Recipes For Life” by Rohnda J. Malkmus I breezed through all the hundreds of recipes.

The book features both Raw and Cooked meals including Sauces, Bread Making, and Salad Dressings. It’s really an all encompasing book that maps out what meals are most nutritious and beneficial for the body using a star system. And of course the Raw foods are all 5 star creations.

It also educates you about all the spices you’ll be using, fruit combinations, vegetable selection, and what kind of equipment you will need in your kitchen to create these meals.

You know, I never knew you couldn’t mix melons with other fruits! Yeah, apparently the two kinds of fruits don’t digest properly in your system. And did you know beets are great for the circulation system…?
Some other things to remember moving to a healthier lifestyle:
Meat stock can be replaced with veggie soup stock.
In yeast breads, try leaving out the eggs.
Use crumbled tofu instead of cottage cheese.
Replace traditional pork and beans with veggie baked beans.
Replace eggs as liquids in recipes for 2Tbls lemon juice or water, 1/2 of a banana, 1/4 cup raw applesauce or groung zucchini.
Replace Salt and Pepper with herbs and juices.
Remove black pepper from the kitchen because it contains 2 carcinogens, peperine and safrole.
Replace sugar with 1/2 cup honey, molasses or maple syrup.

I juiced Carrot, Beet, Cucumber juice for mid-morning and plain Carrot Juice for mid-morning.
Lunch is Bananas and Dinner is still up in the air.!!!?!?!?
